Disease is the body.s natural reaction to toxic ecosystems, and recession is the natural consequence of nonsustainable growth. Give enough self-proclaimed geniuses enough investor bucks, hire enough staff to produce their obviously flawed ideas, and you have all the makings of a plague.

Welcome to the plague. Pass the Help Wanted pages.

First, the greediest shops and stupidest marketing schemes went down. But nobody cared because, hey, we were smarter than those guys. Then intelligent businesses began to fold. Now even the most talented people in the industry are losing their jobs. Monday, you.re on the cover of Artnews. Tuesday, you.re on the unemployment line. No one is immune. No one is safe.
