07/18/2001 Entry: "Ipsos-Reid - The Job for Me?"

Hey,
Everythings going good at Ipsos-Reid. I'm over the rejection, that is, so many people don't like to take surveys, but there are still a lot of people who do. Not surprising, though, is the fact that Canadians enjoy surveys more than american's do, and Canadians aren't as rude when they say they don't want to participate, than the americans do...

I think I'm almost "in the zone", though I'm not going to want to have this job for too long. I'm most certainly willing to take another job -- but at least this job gets me a fair paycheque. I'm not sure how well the paycheque will keep my rent paid, and allow me for other things to do. Here's a breakdown:

$8/h * 7hrs/day = $56/day
$56/day * 5 days/week * 2weeks/pay period = $560

taxes... hmm... I'm not sure what taxes will be, but I can probably expect my take-home pay to be around $480 or a bit more than that.

$480 * 2pay periods/month = $960

$960 - RENT ($362) = $640
$640 - PHONE ($36) = $604
$604 - INTERNET ($45) = $559
$559 - Student Loans ($80) = $479
$479 - VISA ($51) = $428

I'll have to revisit this, but it sounds about right so far... this job may not be too bad... I hope actual takehome pay is what I estimated...
