07/18/2001 Entry: "The "You Owe Me" attitude"

In a fruitless attempt to post whatever I can into my blog, I actually found something interesting, Why Linux Won't Ever Be Mainstream, an article on Slashdot. The author goes on to explain how the "You Owe Me" attitude is preventing large corporations from adopting what could be a great alternative.

I, myself, will never believe that Linux would be the mainstream alternative ever, though it is a very important FIRST STEP. I'm sure the main alternative to Windows in the future will be a linux-like operating system, at least one which shares the views and goals of Linux (OpenSource, Free, Powerful). Once we get past this poor attitude, Linux will be adopted as a valid alternative. Once Linux is a valid alternative, we can all move on to something greater than Linux.
