Well, this article from ZDNet (again) explains why Microsoft wrestles with (the) new OS. Apparently, Microsoft Windows codenamed "BlackComb" will be delayed, and an interim release, code named "Longhorn" will follow after Windows XP. I think, near the bottom, there's a good, legal-related explaination for this too.
