10/26/2002 Entry: "Why did Jesus have to be tempted?"
In light of my own success over darkness and lies...
I pondered, "Did I have to be so STUPID and tempted to live by the flesh, in order that I see my mistakes and have The Lord help me in revealing them and correcting them?"
please... read more!
The mistakes I speak of are mostly those of trying to control others, trying to predict behavior, and trying to learn everything... it was a plan that was destined to fail, but only after doing these things, I saw that I needed to, in order to see it as a mistake.
Did Jesus have to be tempted in the Desert?
Mark 4:1 says, "Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil." This indicates that The Spirit intended Jesus to go into the desert.
Mark 1:12 states, "At once the Spirit sent him out into the desert, and he was in the desert forty days, being tempted by Satan." Again, being led by the Spirit, Jesus was brought into the desert (after being baptised by John in the Jordan) for the assumably sole purpose of being tempted by Satan.
Luke 4:1, "Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit in the desert, where for forty days he was tempted by the devil." Again, He was Led by the Spirit.
I strongly believe that Jesus HAD to be tempted by Satan. For what reason, I do not know. I continue to seek The Lord on this matter...
wow... i sound so .... serious...
