01/06/2004 Entry: "Exif Data"

I played around with the software that comes with the camera, the Finepix Viewer (which is a branded version of the Exif Viewer). This software acts as a great way to embed text data into my photos. The camera automatically embeds technical data like the focal length and shutter speed, and the software let's me add captions and copyright info. Even to the photos still on the camera's xD card.

Its cool, but I'm returning the camera...

The reason for my decision to return the camera is that I'd like to either get a the A205 (mentioned in an earlier post) or a different camera. Why? I'd like the A/V viewing mode (to see photos on a television) and if possible, get something that saves photos as TIFF with Exif data. I'm not too confident in my photos being JPEG compressed when the photo is taken.

Its not too important but I'd also like a camera that offers import using TWAIN, so I can use the 'Acquire Image' option in a program like Photoshop Elements and I can import a picture direct from the camera.

This camera and its software does not let me do this.

Ironically, my $59.99 D-LINK VGA camera with crappppppy shutter speed and colour control has software that I'm sure most newer digital cameras envy.

One thing is for sure, I'm not getting a Ceciro or other cheap-brand camera. I'm sticking with Fuji, and I'm not going to get a Fuji camera that does not have the features the 2650 has.

Farewell, Finepix 2650, you were awesome, but I want something more. I'll always love you.

I'll always shop at Black's Photo.
