04/08/2004 Entry: "David Bowie with The Polyphonic Spree"

So I went to the David Bowie concert; it was great! Lots of dancing on the spot (the floor seats were a bit crowded, but you just can't go to a David Bowie concert and not dance!) Strangely, I did not enjoy David Bowie as much as the opening band before him (in part, because I'm just not the right gender.)

The Polyphonic Spree is their name, and orchestral gospel is their sound. You can read a commentary by one author of the Philadelphia Weekly.

I went to the concert with Trish and Gator (nice to see him again); old friends from when I was working at the mall. And Chrystal was my date. It was a good happy fun wacky time, and although $70.00 for tickets were a bit pricey, I enjoyed myself all the same.

Work was crazy-busy today, as it was yesterday. Yesterday, I had worked 12 hours, just trying to enter all the samples we've received. Apparently, due to the newspaper, people are concerned about asbestos and mould in the home; as well, due to rain and a wellcap that was not covered when flood waters reached a particular elevation and entered the aquifer near the RM of Tache, a boil-water advisory has caused many people to bring in water samples to determine the severity of the problem. This, coupled with the fact that we are about 90% working in our new Oracle-based system (as opposed to the dos-based system which was much faster and easier and smoother), is generating a whole heck of a lot of excess work. I got off on time today, in order to get to the concert and all, and I also have tomorrow off (provided it is not as busy as previous days and I won't be needed at work).

My position is good; I'm the top data entry person, I've already mentioned that I am permenant, and they're hiring another person, a girl. I hope she's flirty in such a way that it enhances my relationship with Melissa. She's awefully distant lately; maybe she's as busy as I am. Maybe I'm just imagining it. I miss just talking with her, I wish for a one-on-one chat.

I talk about her an aweful lot. Who reads these entries anyway?
