Lately I've been feeling designed-out. Feeling like a hack. Then God says, "James!" and i say, "I am here, Lord!" and he says, "Get out of the house. Take the bus." I get on the bus, I travel down portage, and then He says, "Get off here!" so I get off. I walk into Signexpress, and ask the gorgeous young lady working there, "I want to design a book, but I don't know how."

Now, remember: Signexpress has nothing to do with designing books. But the gorgeous young lady has everything to do with designing books...

We talk for at least an hour, about design, about illustration vs. art, about Red River College, about egos in the industry.
She gives me recommendations of organizations and books and people.
We just talk and talk. Part ways afterwards, with promise to be back, "Sure, come back anytime, show me what you've got," she says.

Wow. God works.
